Four Really AWESOME Sports Teams Theme Songs

Occasionally, a sports franchise records a pep up song which is pretty good. 999,999 times out of a million they don’t. But here are four they got right.

“Here Come the Hawks”

You can tell it’s recorded during the Blackhawks glory decade of the 1960s. Of course, that decade only produced one Stanley Cup, but hey, the other decades were pretty slow, and that cup drought ran 5o years until just ending recently, so savor it

“San Diego Super Chargers”

I honestly have a friend who had this PLAYED AT HIS WEDDING IN 2005! And he has zero connection to the city or the team. We comprised two of the four whole people who took to the dance floor for this disco era masterpiece. Probably my #1 all-time sports song, it sounds like it was recorded by the cast-offs from Earth, Wind and Fire and Kool & the Gang synergized together. Pair the song with a retro powder blue Chargers jersey like a medium well Filet Mignon with a wonderful vintage bordeaux. I love this song for two more reasons: I have the music taste of a 50 year old black man, and I played football in high school for a team named the Chargers

“Brass Bonanza” Hartford Whalers

an instrumental for a defunct hockey franchise. In other words the intellectual’s sports theme song

“Go Go White Sox” Captain Stubby and the Buccaneers

From the glory days of the 1950s. Which really weren’t glory days. They won an AL pennant to make sure the New York Yankees won something like 12 in row followed by then 17 in a row. Instead of 30 AL championships in a row. And you think the AL standings are tired, boring and predictable these days?
